- You can get to the Hamburg Parliament by accessible public transport using bus routes 3,4,5 and 6 as well as 31,34,35,36,37 and 109 (Rathausmarkt stop). The rapid transit (S-Bahn) and underground (U-Bahn) stations at Jungfernstieg (S1, S2, S3 and U1, U2, U4) and the Rathaus underground station (U3) are not completely barrier-free. You can find more information on the HVV website.
- Car users will find public disabled parking spaces at Schauenburgerstraße 42 and Rathausstraße 7.
- In the City Hall itself almost all areas of the building are wheelchair accessible. If in doubt, or if you do not know your way around, please feel free to contact the visitor service in advance. For assistance in the building, please go to the information desk in the lobby – on the right when you come in through the main doors.
- There are two exceptions in the City Hall: there is no barrier-free access to the public gallery in the plenary chamber or to room 186. We will do all we can to find a way round this, and the visitor service will be happy to work this out with you in advance, so please let us know your mobility needs (space for a companion, wheelchair space on the plenary level, etc.) before you visit.
- There is space to sit in the lobby of the City Hall.
- There are two accessible toilet facilities in the City Hall: on the first floor to the right of the plenary chamber, next to the gentlemen’s toilet, and near the Banquet Hall in the Senate wing.
We are happy to help if you have any further questions. Please get in touch with the visitor service (email: kontakt@bk.hamburg.de or tel: +49 (0)40 42831-2409).
We are always working to improve accessibility, which is not always easy in an historic building. Please do not hesitate to speak to us if you have a problem. We will do our best to find a solution so that you can be part of political life in Hamburg.
